There is something so warming and comforting about a bowl of Cream of Rice Cereal. Where I live it is nearly impossible to find the boxed kind but luckily it is very easy to make at home.

I like the freedom of making my own Cream of Rice Cereal because it allows me a lot more options. I can use any kind of rice I want and have experimented with many. I can make it from basmati, jasmine, arborio. It can be long, medium or short grain. It can be white, brown, black or purple rice.

There are also many options for the liquids. Usually I use almond milk but you can also use water, coconut milk, soy milk, cows milk, goat milk, or apple cider.

And lastly you can flavor it however you want. Apples and cinnamon, pumpkin spice, vanilla, apple pie spice, cinnamon raisin, chocolate chips, blueberries… you get the idea. Be creative! Rice will take on the flavor of anything you add to it!

Your Cream of Rice Cereal takes me back to my childhood, my Grandmother used to make this for me, and this looks so comforting. Thanks so much for sharing your awesome post with Full Plate Thursday and have a fantastic weekend!

Thanks so much, this is great because during the crisis Cream of Rice is now selling at 4x the price, if you can even find it. Approximately how long do you usually cook it?

“Fall-Off-The-Bone” Ribs in the Oven

Making perfect fall-off-the-bone ribs is actually really easy. It is possible to make them in the smoker, on the bbq or (in this case) in the oven. I love to bake them in the oven because I like that I have complete control over the temperature they cook at and I can count on consistent…

My Start With Minimalism

I am trying my hand at this whole minimalism thing and I am really liking it. Is anyone else doing minimalism? Happy Halloween Everyone!!! Last Halloween I collected all the leftover pumpkins from the neighborhood and tossed them into my garden for compost. I figured “waste not, want not” right?!?
