This is not my original brain-creation. I was actually inspired to make homemade Nutella by Buzzfeed Food. BF Food actually inspires a LOT of my cooking.
First off, why would you want to make your own Nutella?
Well, here in Canada Nutella is stupidly expensive. I rarely ever buy it because I know how simple it is to make for a fraction of the price. I am also not a fan of additives, preservatives that we find in food far too often these days.
Making it at home also allows you to control the amount of sugar added and really amp up the quality of dark chocolate (hello antioxidants). I like to think homemade Nutella is a health food but maybe that’s taking things a little too far :p
Most importantly, when I bust out some homemade bread with homemade Nutella, people immediately think I am way too cool. Okay so maybe that isn’t the most important but I still get a kick outta the shock value lol.
Also, I am dying to try this with other nuts. I feel like pecans, walnuts or cashews would be an amazing base for nutella. What do you think? Awesome or terrible?
Check out the BuzzFeed post that inspired me and check out their video below.
PS, once you have made a batch you should definitely use some to make these epic Nutella Brownies.
PPS you are definitely going to want to use a food processor or high powered blender (Blendtec, Vitamix) for this.
