I think that the best way to start the day is with fresh whole foods. Now that the warm weather is finally here I am loving the fresh summer flavors of berries.

My “Power Bowls” are all so different from one day to the next but follow the same general formula.

1) Fruit

– any fruit you love. I like to use strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, bananas, pears, mango, or kiwi.

2) Protein

– try nuts like pecans, walnuts, pistacios, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds. Or try some of your favorite nut butters. The Cashew Nut Butter Dip is amazing drizzled on top.

3) Something Wet

– I like to eat it like a cereal so I love to use a milk of some sort. Almond milk is a great low calorie option and has a great taste while coconut milk is thick and rich. You can use any milk or even yogurt!

4) Superfoods

– this is where your fancy fruit salad becomes a “Power Bowl”. I like to add cinnamon, chia seeds, flax seeds, hemp hearts, bee pollen, coconut, or buckwheat groats.

Sometimes my power bowls are very simple and only combine a couple of the ingredients while sometimes they are packed with a variety.

Below are some of my latest Power Bowls:
