If you have read my blog for a while then you know the story about how I found out I was allergic to gluten and how I have dealt with it. I was able to create a beautiful and light gluten free flour blend with all the knowledge I had gathered from research and experience.
Why is BTMR GFree Flour Blend the Best?
The trick was to find a gluten free flour blend that could be substituted cup for cup with regular all purpose flour. I don’t mind substituting by weight and have actually come to love baking by weight but my blog is aimed at making recipes accessible for everyone and that means cups, Tbsps and tsps. Mission accomplished! You can rely on this to substitute cup for cup for all purpose flour in your favorite recipes!
I created something with minimal flavor (no beans!!!), has a light texture and is never grainy. It rises well in baked goods and holds together.
Why Not Buy Gluten Free Flour Mix?
I have bought and tried A LOT of gluten free flours with mixed reviews. I like Cup4Cup and it has traditionally been one of my favorites BUT it is very expensive and hard to find here in Canada. This means I need to pick it up on trips across the border. That isn’t handy! If you can find it near you at a good price I highly recommend it. Or you can buy it on Amazon which has some of the best prices.
The problem with store bought mixes is that a lot of them are terrible! You know it, I know it. The texture is bad, the taste is terrible and you pay a premium for it. Depending where you live you may have only a couple options to choose from.
BTMR GFree Flour
So now you want my gluten free flour blend! I have created a handy customizable excel sheet. You can adjust the amount of cups to make just the amount you need for a recipe or a large batch. I prefer to make 10-20 cups at a time and store in a large airtight container. It really depends on how much you use it. It only takes about 10 minutes to mix up! Here are the measurements for 10 cups of the BTMR GFree Flour.
|BTMR GFree Flour|
|# of Cups||10|
|White Rice Flour||532|
|Non-Fat Dry Milk||196|
|Brown Rice Flour||140|
Click here for access to the customizable spreadsheet. It allows you to adjust the number of cups you want to make and will automatically calculate the amount of each ingredient to add. That way you can make as large or small a batch of the GFree Flour Blend as you need.
